Housework Calories Burned

I am pretty picky of how I work out but really want to start doing something to get myself back down to my ideal weight. I have about 35lbs to go, every pound making a huge difference thanks to my shortness! I teach dance and am going to take Bollywood this summer, but for the most part getting to a traditional gym is near impossible. So I looked up how many calories I burn doing normal household chores... then I got all artsy and made a chart, lol! Enjoy!

Housework Calories

As you know I am addicted to Pinterest. Aside from using it to keep track of hair styles I like, gift ideas, and food recipes, I also have a board for healthy living inspiration. Cool eating charts, before and after pics, etc all make their way to my board. I love seeing all the fit people in dance poses, the proper way to tell eating portions... makes me want to better myself!  Here are some of my favorite pins:

Just Dance!

Late last year, as a family Christmas present, we bought the Kinect for the XBox 360. This is something that Klint and I have been holding out for ever since we first heard about it in development and despite the ever popular Wii coming out. For those of you who don't know what the Kinect is, it is a controller free gaming device that is connected to the XBox 360, very similarly to the Wii in how you interact with you game in terms of movement. The beauty of the Kinect though is that there are no controllers at all and no special mats.... just you and your game.

There are many cool features about the Kinect but for me personally, I wanted it for the dance game called Dance Central.

This game is a BLAST!!!! It doesn't matter whether or not you are a dancer because the flashcards teach you and in easy mode even little kids can do the moves. But, if you are a dancer it is even better! The game uses actual dance moves like a jazz square so it is really easy to start to learn the hard versions of songs. And let me tell ya, the hard dances are HARD! I am really digging the music choices and can't wait to bring some of these moves to the studio for jazz and hip hop.

For those of you who really want a good workout (I spent over an hour dancing the other night!) but don't want to feel like it is work, I highly suggest a dance game like Dance Central! The characters are cool, the moves are hot, and you will drop the pounds dropping it like it's hot!!!

The List 3.7.10

Hello dear readers! I hope that everyone is doing well, especially us Clevelanders who have enjoyed a couple of days with real actual sunshine. I am trying not to get too excited because I know that Mother Nature is tricky and a huge snow storm can hit tomorrow just as easily as the sun is shining.
I have been uber busy, painting, creating, dancing, and now working out. I decided that after my daughter called my belly "fluffy" that it was time to step it up and get some chub off of my teeny frame. Lucky for me that since I am so short, as easily as I can pack it on, I know I can get it off. =) So my first link is the gym I joined... enjoy and be inspired!

I always found membership gyms really intimidating, like I needed to work out and get in shape first! Thanks to Planet Fitness, whose motto is "Judgement Free Zone", I am comfortable enough to go use a cardio machine or do their 30 Minute Workout- a circuit training thing that kicked my butt today! Check it out, I mean for $10 a month (no contracts) it might be the perfect place for you!
"As the most innovative health club brand in the United States, Planet Fitness is known for a lot of things – our absurdly low prices, our lunk alarm, and most of all perhaps, for our Judgement Free Zone® philosophy, which means members can relax, get in shape, and have fun without being subjected to the hard-core, look-at-me attitude that exists in too many gyms"
I am feeling really whimsical lately and the Etsy shop Quotes & Notes is the prefect place for whimsy. I love her pretty cotton hearts that say You & Me on them. So pretty!

I am a huge fan of tutorials that are easy to follow. This Everything Bag tutorial from Bluebirdbaby is really well written, is presented in a very neat way, and shows you how to make a bag that I am sure people will assume was store bought.

Now that I am working out regularly I need a way to plan my week so I have something to stick to. I love these notepads from LobotoMe. The FitMe pad handles all the details, you just stick to it!
** Her blog is full of great tips and such too, definitely worth a look! **

I am continuing with the Felt Love in the house and just found this SUPER SIMPLE activity to do with the little ones from Pink and Green Mama... all you need is felt and imagination!

Is it sad that I am already starting to get ideas for the girl's birthday parties? I love love love this Pink Owl themed party inspiration board from The Birthday Girl. Maybe I will just let Gabby have a sleepover and have the theme everywhere, just because... =)

Well, that is it for now... I have a lot going on, so I am keeping this a little shorter than usual. Have a great day and blessed be!

Doing the Unthinkable

Today I started running... and knowing me and the fact that if I don't have some real motivation to keep at it I will wuss out, I started a new blog documenting the journey from now until June 2010 when I hope to reach my goal of cutting my jean size in half. Come check it out, give me some encouragement because heaven knows I will need it, and feel free to leave some running tips and tricks! Presenting Chubby Chick Running!!
